Foot Care | Medical Pedicures

Diabetes can damage the nerves in your feet, making it difficult or impossible to notice when something is wrong. A minor issue — an ingrown toenail, a callus, a small cut — can quickly become an ulcer or serious infection. In some cases, untreated foot problems lead to amputation.

Professional foot care isn't a luxury. For people with diabetes or other high-risk foot conditions, it's essential.

Our Medical Pedicures

Our medical pedicures are performed by Licensed Practical Nurses with specialized foot care certification — not aestheticians. At each appointment your nurse will conduct a thorough examination of your feet, address all nails, calluses, corns, and skin concerns, and look for early signs of complications you might not notice yourself.

Every appointment includes:

  • Thorough nail care — precise trimming and filing of all toenails, reducing the risk of ingrown nails

  • Callus and corn treatment — safe removal without the risk of over-filing or wounds

  • Full skin assessment — checking for early signs of neuropathy, circulation problems, or pre-ulcerative lesions

  • Sterile instruments — autoclaved between every patient to hospital standard

  • Moisturizing treatment — included as part of every appointment

  • Education — you'll leave knowing more about your feet and what to watch for at home

Appointments are 45 minutes. Private treatment rooms. No referral required.

Not just for diabetic patients

Medical pedicures are appropriate for anyone who wants thorough, professional foot care — no medical condition required. They're especially valuable for:

  • People with diabetes or other high-risk foot conditions

  • Older adults for whom nail care has become physically difficult

  • Anyone with thick, painful, or difficult toenails

  • People with a history of ingrown toenails

  • Anyone who simply wants their feet properly looked after

Why Edmonton Diabetes?

  • Clinical expertise — our foot care nurses have experience in wound care, hospital wards, emergency departments, and assisted living facilities. The depth of experience you'll find here isn't available at a nail salon

  • Hospital-grade sterilization — we use an autoclave to sterilize all instruments, meeting the standards set by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta

  • Private treatment rooms — one-on-one care in a clean, comfortable, discreet environment

  • Additional services — if you also need Onyfix nail correction, ToeFX light therapy for fungal nails, or compression stocking fitting, we can often address those at the same appointment

  • Rated 5 stars across 200+ Google reviews — our patients speak for themselves

Coverage and pricing

Medical pedicures are not covered by Alberta Health Services or Alberta Blue Cross. Some extended health benefit plans cover a portion of nursing foot care — worth checking your plan. We're happy to provide documentation to support a claim.

Why Edmonton Diabetes?

  1. Private, one-on-one care — every appointment takes place in a private treatment room. You're seen individually, without other patients nearby. You're welcome to bring up to two support people if you'd like company.

  2. Hospital-grade sterilization — all instruments are sterilized using an autoclave between every patient, meeting the standards set by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. The same standard used in hospitals.

  3. Nurses with real clinical experience — our High Risk Foot Care Nurses hold advanced foot care certification and bring experience from hospital wards, emergency departments, and assisted living facilities. That depth of background isn't something you'll find at a nail salon.

  4. A reputation built on results — we have a 5-star Google rating across 200+ patient reviews. We'd rather let that speak for itself.
