Note:

Patients with any of the following conditions should be sent directly to the nearest emergency department:

  • Acute ischemia

  • Acute joint or skin infection

  • Suspected ketoacidosis

  • Acute onset of pain in a previously insensate foot

For any of the aforementioned emergencies, direct the patient to the nearest emergency department.
